An insider’s Milan – Giorgio Busnelli
With the annual Milan Furniture Fair launching next week, we asked B&B Italia’s Giorgio Busnelli, and Milanese local, to share with us his favourite places in Milan…
Giorgio Busnelli’s six favourite spots in Milan… from dining to contemporary art and a place for relaxing over summer aperitivo.
Panza di Biumo collection of contemporary art in Varese (50 km north of Milano)
I recommend visiting the Panza di Biumo collection of contemporary art, as it includes a selection of high-quality works in a period setting. It’s not very large but it is extremely precious.
La Triennale di Milano and the Design Museum, viale Alemagna 6
The Triennale plays a pivotal role in the cultural and economic life of Milan, hosting a multitude of activities and events and showcasing Italian design.
Da Giacomo Restaurant, via Pascale Sottocorno 6
Da Giacomo (pictured) always guarantees a pleasant evening, not only thanks to the food, but also because of its ambience and the chance of meeting the right people.
Bulgari Hotel Garden, via Privata Fratelli Gabba 7/b
During the warm seasons, the private garden of the Bulgari Hotel becomes an ideal backdrop for aperitivo hour and is a popular meeting spot. The unique natural context is highlighted by mist rising from the greenery, which creates a surreal and dreamlike environment.
Spazio Rossana Orlandi, via Matteo Bandello, 14
In the Magenta District of Milan, Spazio Rossana Orlandi is close to Cadorna Station and the ancient Sant’Ambrogio Church. Here you can explore and discover a fine selection of new and original pieces in the world of interior and fashion design.
Design Library, via Savona 11
The first library entirely dedicated to design is also a social place and a centre for cultural events. The Design Library hosts free design discussions, as well as a large collection of Italian and international magazines, books, annuals and catalogues.
